On
May 1st and 2nd in the town of Kotovo (of the Volgograd region)
was held a youth program called "Jesus inside", which
was organized by the Jesus Embassy International Students' Fellowship
together with a local Christian church "the Grace of Jesus
Christ". On the first day, on arrival to Kotovo, the team of
medical students visited an orphanage. They went there not with
the aim of humanitarian aid (the children of this orphanage didn't
have such need), but to give to kids a small part of God's love
through performing of songs, dancing numbers and skits. The children
took an active part in the whole program, winning sweet prizes in
the competitions.
In a game form Joshua and Jean (from Malaysia) held a biblical lesson,
and children learned for how many days God created the world. It
was a live intercourse. The kids helped the teachers to stick small
figures of animals and people to the flannel graph. The students
and the children found common language, became friends and nobody
wanted to separate.
At the end of the meeting, the team gave to each kid small gifts.
Then children with the principal Tatiana Vladimirovna arranged for
the guests a tour of their house. Rooms for games, library, photo
studio, dancing and computer classrooms and many others - all these
promote normal development of children. Also it must be mentioned
what talented kids live there, their photo-works and articles were
professionally made.
That day the Christian students also had time to talk to people
on the streets of the town, distributing the papers "Christian
News" and inviting them to come to one of the Sunday meetings.
And on May 2nd, on Sunday, the Jesus Embassy team held two more
wonderful meetings with the residents of Kotovo in two different
places. At each of these meetings were songs in different languages,
dancing numbers and skits. Some students told short testimonies
of how much better and more successful life they have in Jesus,
compared to the years when they didn't know Him personally and believe
in His Word. For 35 inhabitants these meetings were of great importance,
and helped them to think about the meaning of life, and also to
make the decision to stand on God's side and allow Him to change
their lives. Warm intercourse after the meetings and prayers for
the needs of those who became Christians drew closer residents of
the town together with the guests from Volgograd.
Seeing the commitment of the young family of missionaries Serge
and Katya (they have a two-moth daughter), the members of the Jesus
Embassy team have a great desire to assist them in the work of bringing
the Gospel. It was not the first trip of "Jesus Embassy"
to that town, and hopefully, not the last.
